From Fashion to Activism: Kahentinetha Horn's Unique Path

Kaniehtiio's mother, Kahentinehtha Horn, born on 16 April 1940 in New York City, has led an incredibly adventurous and diverse life. As a Mohawk political activist, civil servant, and former fashion model, she has made significant contributions to her community and beyond.

Since 1972, Kahentinehtha has served in various capacities within the social, community, and educational development policy sections of the Canadian federal Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, leveraging her unique background and experiences to drive change.

A proud member of the Mohawk Bear Clan of Kahnawake, she has always ensured to share stories of her extensive and varied journey with her daughter, Kaniehtiio, doing so with the same sense of humour that has been a pillar of strength and resilience throughout her life.
